If you've ever felt like there has to be a better way to educate your children, you're not alone. Maybe you've thought about homeschooling your children but you just don't have the capacity. Or maybe you believe that your children would be just fine in public school, yet, you desire more for their education.
St. George is a faculty of friends who believe that the health of a child fundamentally depends upon the nourishment of their minds and souls.
The confusion and lack of true education in the world, as well as our desire for a better education experience for our own children is why we felt called to do something different in Rockbridge County.
The classical style of education we employ at St. George is not only centered in the sources of our civilization, but in the God who made us.
Our Program
a day in the life at
As C.S. Lewis argues, the study of classical works of literature gives us greater insight into the past as well as wisdom for directing the present and the future.
At St. George, we believe an education provides more than facts and information. It provides formation. It teaches our children how to be in the world, but not of the world.
In passing down the wisdom and the culture of the Church, children are lead outside of themselves. They walk away from a classical education with a love of learning that traditional schools have lost.
Classically educated students join the ranks of people like William Shakespeare, John Milton, and George Washington.

Focuses on Virtues
The classical style of education inspires students to acquire the virtues—Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Fortitude, crowned by Faith, Hope, and Love—through the inspirational stories and prayers of great Christian men and women.
Fosters a Love of Learning
Classical education engages students intellectually at each level, so that they achieve academic excellence as they work to master the skills of learning.
Our small classes allow for a unique level of personalized education and individual exploration.
Creates Community
Classical education encourages a school culture marked by wisdom, humility, and kindness, guided by teachers who model a life that is joyful and respectful of others.
Our students love being together and enjoy a rich life of community outside of the school environment.
We desired a different education for our children, but as a family of two working parents, we don't have the time to homeschool. St. George has been the biggest blessing to our family. Our son Jack is excited to go to school each day and he loves both his teachers and his peers. We frequently catch him singing in Latin, telling us about the life of Jesus and showing off skills we didn't know he had.
With the school’s foundation in Christian virtues, Anna and Danny’s natural sibling rivalry has been transformed into a supportive and encouraging relationship. The students learn to champion their peers and work as a group. They come home singing songs and sharing stories of their day. The classical curriculum brings a natural synthesis of art, literature, history, and music which allows a richer understanding and deeper application of knowledge across subjects.
