St. George Classical School began in the Fall of 2021 as a conversation between a few friends at St. Paul's Anglican Church. We are a classical Christian day school for grades K-8 located just outside of Lexington, VA.
As a school that is classically Christian, we offer a classical English language education that aims to shape the whole person, body, mind, and soul. We aim to provide a challenging curriculum with hands on learning and training in life skills and Christian values, in order to help shape students into better sons, daughters, citizens, and neighbors.
We aim to offer the proper nourishment for the student's mind by teaching the classics of Western literature (the Trivium & Quadrivium) and Latin and encouraging respect for the wisdom of the past. In sum, our goal is to foster in each student a renewed longing for God, in Christ Jesus, as the Greatest Good and for loving their neighbors as themselves.

There are many things that could be said about Saint George of Merry England (d. 303 A.D.), but what is most important is that he was a Roman soldier, who lost his rank in the Praetorian Guard when he publicly professed his faith in Jesus Christ. This decision cost George his life, and he was counted among the martyrs of the early church.
A medieval story about St. George says that he once rescued a young damsel in distress from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon. In this way St. George's victory reflects the victory of Christ and His people over sin & the Devil, recalling the words of the psalm: "the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet" (Ps. 91:13). The martyr's crown of victory is reflected in our school motto, "Corona sapientiae, timor domini," which means, "The fear of the Lord is a crown of wisdom" (Ecclus. 1:18). Together the school keeps the Feast of St. George each year on April 23rd.

Sophie is currently working on her MA in Theological Studies at Regent College, based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her thesis is on the role of fairy tales in children’s spiritual formation. While living in Vancouver, she worked as Regent’s writing tutor, guiding masters students from all backgrounds through the research and writing process.
Prior to Vancouver, she worked in the photography industry and studied public relations and philosophy at the University of Georgia. Sophie was classically educated as a child, to which she credits her deep wonder at all things - creation, literature, philosophy, theology, and the list goes on. This is her first time living in Virginia, and she can’t wait to explore all the natural and historical wonders with her boyfriend Christian, a law student at Washington & Lee. When she isn’t tramping through the woods or burying her head deep in a book, she enjoys writing stories and playing tennis, board games, and the violin.
